Polyploidisation
One of Iribov’s specialities is multiplying the complete chromosome set of a plant through chromosome doubling, also known as polyploidization.
Higher ploidy levels often result to improved plant architecture and larger flowers. Furthermore, this technique is used to overcome sterility caused by an unequal number of chromosome sets or interspecific hybridization.
For many crops, Iribov has efficient protocols to increase the ploidy level. Using flow cytometry, the ploidy level of crops is measured with very high accuracy and at a very early stage. To confirm the ploidy level, tissue culture plants will be measured three times.
