Cleaning batches
Ensure clean starting material by having your infected batches cleaned up with PCR testing through Iribov.
In recent years, export requirements for tulip bulbs have been increasing. There also seems to be an increase in virus pressure in many other crops, resulting in the disappearance of (high-quality) tulip varieties that are sensitive (for example, to Tulip Virus X).
To cope with the virus problem, many crops are working with clean starting material from tissue culture. One method of obtaining clean starting material is to clean up contaminated batches by testing mixed samples using PCR assay. Cleaning up lots can be used for several purposes:
- Conservation of high-value species.
- Saving selection work through clean start.
- Cleaning up selection lots (breeding).
